SYMPOSIUM ON "TERRITORIAL GOVERNANCE AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT"

2019-11-28

November 28 and 29, 2019

At the headquarters of the Faculty of Juridical, Economic and Social Sciences – Oujda

The National Observatory of Human Development (ONDH) and the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences of the Mohammed Premier University of Oujda co-organized an international symposium on "Territorial Governance and Local Development". The work and conclusions of this symposium will be held on 28 and 29 November 2019 at the headquarters of the Faculty.

Today, territorial governance, a fundamental pillar of government policies and programs, places local authorities as key actors in the management of territories and the design and implementation of local development projects. However, multidimensional developments, the diversity of local actors and the growing willingness of citizens to participate in public management at the local level are all factors that have fundamentally changed the territorial governance equation.

Within this framework, this scientific event has set itself the objective of offering a space for reflection and debate, both in terms of diagnosis and perspectives, on the issues of territorial governance and local development. The work will be led by participants from various backgrounds: university researchers, representatives of United Nations Agencies, evaluation experts, local elected officials, and civil society actors.

During the two days, the workshops of this colloquium will focus on ;

  • Governance and convergence of the economic, social and cultural policies of local authorities;
  • Management of human resources of local and regional authorities;
  • Governance of local finances and regional investment;
  • Management of programs and projects of territorial upgrading and socio-economic development;
  • Management of territorial digital policies.
