FRANCOPHONE BRANCH OF THE COLLABORATIVE FOR THE GOVERNANCE OF HEALTH SYSTEMS: CONSTITUENT WORKSHOP

2019-09-10

Rabat, September 10, 2019- The National Observatory for Human Development is organizing, in partnership with the WHO office in Morocco, the WHO department of Health Systems Governance and Financing in Geneva, and the global secretariat of the Collaborative for Health Systems Governance, a workshop to launch the Francophone antenna of the Collaborative, on September 10 and 11 at the headquarters of the ONDH, in the presence of various stakeholders in French-speaking health systems.

During the first two days, interactive sessions will be held with actors from French-speaking countries (France, Belgium, Canada, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Burundi, Benin, Algeria, Tunisia, ...) whose objective is to exchange experiences, knowledge and good practices in health governance to progress towards Universal Health Coverage.

On September 12, 2019 will be held the workshop constituting a national antenna of the Collaborative in the presence of a network of Moroccan experts. This workshop will be an opportunity to form a Central Group in charge of establishing a work program to define concrete activities to co-produce and manage knowledge that can contribute to the strengthening of French-speaking health systems. This Central Group will also be responsible for supporting the conceptualization and advancement of activities promoting the actionable governance agenda.

It should be noted that the Collaborative for Health Systems Governance was established on December 12, 2016, during the first conference of the International Health Partnership for CSU2030. The Collaborative is an independent network made up of members with varied backgrounds - technical experts, agencies, politicians, citizens - offering a space for dialogue and reflection to confront different perspectives. It benefits from the technical, normative and financial support of the World Health Organization (WHO).

In order to expand its global and regional network, the Collaborative is launching, under the impetus of Moroccan partners, its French-speaking antenna with a view to pursuing the collective learning logic established since its creation. The presidency of this French-speaking Collaborative will rotate, with a launch by Morocco through an institutional portage by the National Observatory of Human Development (ONDH) for a period of two years.

The purpose of this antenna is to participate :

  • Strengthening the proximity of the collaboration with the national and sub-national levels;
  • To improve access to knowledge and dialogue on the governance of health systems by removing the language barrier;
  • Mobilization of French-speaking actors (institutional and non-institutional) for major concerns and priority global health objectives;
  • To enrich global and regional collaborations through the sharing of experiences and specific lessons learned from francophone countries
